Dear Mom

Writer's picture: MorganMorgan

I can't have a whole platform dedicated to moms and not post something in honor of Mother's Day. Although Mother's Day can be challenging for some. Whether you are estranged from your own mother, have experienced loss, or simply have been hoping and praying to become a mother yourself, I want to take a brief moment to celebrate all the mamas. However that has come to pass, I want to know you are shaping the world as you help raise these little souls. I hope you feel encouraged and loved today and every day.

Here is a sweet little letter from all the kids who are now grown up...

Dear mom,

Thank you for the sleepless nights, the meals cooked, and the clean clothes folded. The park play dates made and the meltdowns patiently handled. The hours spent teaching me how to swing on the big kid swing and read and write. The late night talks and the shoulder you've given me to cry on many times. The cheers and support you've given for every game, match, and recital. The intuitive way you know something is wrong before I even say a thing. For the times you held my hair when I was sickI could go on forever with all of the things you've done for me and how amazing your life has impacted me, but one word sums up everything that you are and what I love most about you: LOVE.

The time, energy, and sacrifices made throughout my whole life showed me just how much you love me. I know I haven't always made things easy and I know we have had our moments, but there is no other person I would rather call "mom".

It's because of you I am strong and sensitive. Because of you I love more deeply. Because of you my cheeks are peppered with freckles and my skin is just this color. You sacrificed your body, your time, and your heart to make sure I became who I am. I am grateful for you and you deserve more than just today, but it's a start. Happy Mother's Day!

Love,

Your Adult Child

I believe this to be the heart of all of us when we grow up and become moms ourselves. We see things a little more clearly with more years under our belt. Although there are some of us who didn't have great moms, who maybe experienced abandonment or abuse. Think hard, did God bring some other woman into your life to fill that motherly role? Perhaps a teacher or mentor.

Mom is an encompassing word for someone who sacrifices her time, supports, encourages, guides, cheers you on, teaches, inspires, sees the best in you, never gives up on you, and just loves with all her heart. Mama, what you do matters! Every boo boo kissed, every hand held, butt wiped, meal prepared, and sacrifice made is the shaping who your kids will become. It is the most important job you will ever do. Keep doing amazing things! You are changing the world, one little life at a time ❤️

Enjoy a blessed Mother's Day!

Love you mama,
